What's Happening at Grand Island Rotary Club
  • Plans being made for Taste of Grand Island booth, Saturday, Sep. 28. How about joining the team - probably a huge Tree of NYS Lottery chances to sell raffle tix for, empenadas to make and sell.  Sign up at Board mtg or Breakfast mtg on Aug. 14.
  • A small, but very interested, group joined POD Leader Chris Learman, (and husband Kent Richardson) as she arranged a tour of Border Patrol Office on G I.  Remember the days when we hardly thought of ourselves as a Border Community?   Times have changed.  Of course there is a big difference from the Southern Border, leaving the Border Patrol under great stress.  Officers were more than willing to answer questions and had a great video & slide show to back up their story - a wonderful event, thanks to Chris for organizing!
  • Sherry Miller, our President Elect, and our Futuring Task Group are compiling results from the survey you completed.  Are you interested in joining the group planning our future?  Email smiller04it@yahoo.com or call her: 417-4937  Or come to Board meeting, 7 AM Wed. morning at Burger King Conf. room.
Reflections on our 60 Years as a Rotary Club
This Week - Our Socializing!
We love to talk about the value of community service and the noble work of Rotary. Let’s not forget the pleasure of friendships developed during meetings, with like-minded fellow community members, and during hands on projects. Of course, there are also pleasures of social events, particularly summer picnic meetings where Members open their homes to host those meetings. We have not done a good enough job of thanking these hosts over the years for their effort, their hard work, their hassles predicting attendance. Some remember a time, years ago, when those picnic evenings drifted into long sessions around the card table, but, thankfully, those diversions are behind us now!
What do you Really Think of this Bulletin Style?
  • Would you rather just have a list of upcoming events?
  • Or do you want photos, results of recent events?
  • If we promised that web site calendar was up-to-date and fully explained upcoming and past events, would that be enough, or do you need this Bulletin?
  • Do you need extra encouragement from this Bulletin to attend meetings or events?
  • Do you need extra encouragement to log onto web site on a regular basis?
  • Should longer, in-depth articles on Club plans, goals, policies, be in this bulletin, or on web site?
  • Do you have a clever, or simple, or really nutty, name for this Bulletin?
  • Would you really like Hank K to just shut up and keep doing whatever he likes?
  • Whatever your thoughts, please fill up my Email Inbox!
