Taste of GI is Next Week - We need lots of cooperation and help. Looking for volunteers for set up and 2-4 hour shifts. Pres. Elect Sherry will have sign up sheet at Club Assembly, 9/25. Please help during set up 10 to 11, plus at the event from 11 AM to 8 PM.
We need workers to take food orders and sell the 50/50 tickets - also take guesses from the kiddos for # of M & M's in a jar! And we hope you are willing to work with Major cooking - we need to give him some relief during the day. Sign up at meeting or Email Sherry with your availability.
President Elect Sherry has sent you an Email with summary of surveys we sent out.
Let me repeat her message telling you our hopes for Club Assembly this week, Sep 25:
Please review the previous two surveys and digest the results from the Reinvent the Wheel survey. I appreciate those who responded with openness and honesty. Be prepared to discuss what these survey results tell you about the club and where we have room for improvement.
SO, lets say it one last time:
Please come to the Club Assembly, Sep 25 at School District Office, and come with your thinking cap on, to help plan the future of our Club!
POD Leader Chris Learman will bring in wraps and drinks for this important WORKING meeting. You must tell her you are coming, so there will be munchies for all!
Note that we have our Adopt-A-Hiway cleanup of Beaver Island Pkwy on Saturday, Oct 5 - mark your calendar. Yes, there will be High School students from interact & Gov't class, but we need you to round out the crew.
If anyone is interesting in helping with Meals on Wheels, please talk to Dan Flaim.
Please remember to bring copies of the Rotarian Magazine to Pres. Elect Sherry at the next meeting, for placement in waiting rooms around Grand Island. Of course that is after you have read it!
A Special Event for Us and the Town
On Wed, Oct 16, 7 – 9 PM, we in G I Rotary will host a Candidates Night (for Town Supervisor candidates only) in the High School auditorium. We do hope you will attend – the format will include candidates responding to pre-submitted written questions only – start submitting your questions by Email to Chair Mike Billoni right now. Do you know the Candidates? They are: Thomas Franz, Conservative Party; Jim Sharpe, Democratic Party and John C. Whitney, PC, Republican and Independence Parties.
ROTARY and its concept of 'Service Above Self' starts local with a community minded Club. Our G I Rotary is important in itself and can do great things locally. But there is so much more Rotary International does; please be aware and participate. Here are some items to extend yourself and your concept of Rotary:
How about enriching yourself, and your partner, by joining a Rotary Friendship Exchange to Sweden and Latvia in May / June of 2020. What's involved - generally couples will first host, then visit, couples in the partnered area over a 4 week period to gain understanding of the sameness, and differences, of lives of Rotarians between here and Sweden / Latvia. Of course, tourism also! Sound interesting? Email John Crossingham: Xngham@cogeco.net for info.
