At this Past Week's Meeting
  • Mike Lockett introduced his grand daughter Mollie Hegarty with Belgian Rotary Exchange Student Claire Delmarle.  The girls, particularly Mollie, explained Short Time Exchange program of Rotary where, family to family, youth are exchanged for a month, in this case Belgium to US.  After an exciting month showing Claire this area & other parts of the States, Mollie is off to Belgium for a month in Belgium!  Rotary, in so many ways, helping International understanding for the youth (and the rest of us)!  President Dick with the Exchange pair is at right.
  • Mary Haggerty presented our High School Senior scholarships ($1000 each) to Alex Melisz, who will attend Flagler College, St. Augustine to study journalism, and to Brianna Beyer, who will attend NCCC, then UB, for nursing and nurse practitioner degrees.  Outstanding students, Alex achieved Eagle Scout rank, was a Relay for Life Youth Ambassador, swim team and Masterminds member, plus extensive service at his church.  Brianna, a DECA and Interact member, served at Buffalo City Mission and in Relay for Life.  Both showed an interest in service we believe is so important to a fulfilled life. See their photo below in the note honoring Mary Haggerty for her service.
  • President Elect Sherry presented the work of the Futuring Task Force (including herself, Dick Earne, Brian Graham, Mike Malaney) and outlined the next three month's hilites.  July - Member Satisfaction Survey issued. August - collate responses, send out Futuring Trends Survey. Sept - All Club Workshop to identify and prioritize Wildly Important Goals (WIGs).
  • Mike Billoni is POD Leader for Oct - Dec.  He is looking for Team Members and ideas for programs, activities, Email him at Mike@Billoni.com
Mary Haggerty Receives Paul Harris Award
President Dick Earne and the Club proudly presented Mary Haggerty with a Paul Harris Award at the Launch Club meeting on Wednesday the 24th.  Mary, currently a Director, Membership Committee and Scholarships Chairs, was instrumental in starting the EarlyAct youth service clubs at both Huth Rd. and Kaegebein Schools. Hard working for G I Rotary and a faithful donor to the Rotary Foundation for many years, she is exactly the Rotarian to receive an award named for our founder Paul Harris, who in 1905 worked diligently to bring together business and professional folk into an organization that emphasized service to all mankind.  Here she is with our current Scholarship winners Alex Melisz and Brianna Beyer.
What do you Really Think of this Bulletin Style?
  • Would you rather just have a list of upcoming events?
  • Or do you want photos, results of recent events?
  • If we promised that web site calendar was up-to-date and fully explained upcoming and past events, would that be enough, or do you need this Bulletin?
  • Do you need extra encouragement from this Bulletin to attend meetings or events?
  • Do you need extra encouragement to log onto web site on a regular basis?
  • Should longer, in-depth articles on Club plans, goals, policies, be in this bulletin, or on web site?
  • Do you have a clever, or simple, or really nutty, name for this Bulletin?
  • Would you really like Hank K to just shut up and keep doing whatever he likes?
  • Whatever your thoughts, please fill up my Email Inbox!
