Have you really looked at the logo which carries the Rotary Theme for this year -

Yes it says: Rotary Connects the World.  DG Bob Artis related several instances and had President Dick, President Elect Sherry, draw names and start new connections in the Rotary world, to further open their (and our) eyes in the wide Rotary world.  As Dick started the connecting DG Bob asked, Dick received, quite unexpected and yet so appropriate, a note from a Fellow District Governor he trained with in 2006 (you do remember Dick is a Past District Guv)!  Read the note below to see the range and depth of connections that wearing a Rotary pin produces:

Yesterday I attended a lunch organized by the American Cancer Society for their donors.  There were about 15 of us, invited to meet and hear one of their cancer research scientists which ACS sponsors.   The event was sponsored by a law firm specializing in estate planning.   The speaker was Gustavo Martinez, PhD and his topic was “Advances in Cancer Immunology”.    Gustavo prefaced his talk by giving his own personal history, growing up in Buenos Aires, moving to USA, and doing his cancer research.   Afterwards I spoke with Gustavo, let him know I was recently in BA, and asked some questions.   He noticed my Rotary pin.  Said he knows some Rotarians in Argentina: a family Giay.   I laughed and said of course.  I said Luis and I worked together in a major way with Bill Gates Sr and got the Gates Foundation to team with Rotary to eradicate polio worldwide.   Not only does Gustavo know Luis Giay, but Gustavo is best friends with Giay’s son and was in Giay’s son's wedding party.  

I’ve cc’ed Gustavo.  Thought Carlos might want to reach out to a fellow Argentinian.   I don’t have Giay’s email handy, so I request Jorge and Carlos to pass the word on to him, letting them know Gustavo is well and making a difference!
